How to Choose the Right Book

Choosing the Right Book for You

Sometimes it is difficult to know if a book is going to be too easy or too hard to read just by looking at it. You can "test" the book using your five fingers before you get frustrated.
Try This:
  • Choose a book that you find interesting.
  • Find a page to read near the middle of the book with lots of words and few or no pictures.
  • Begin to read the page in a whisper so you can hear the places where you are having difficulty.
  • Each time you come to a word you don't know, put up one finger.
  • If you put up five fingers before you reach the end of the page, this book may not be for you.
  •  If you have less than five fingers but more than one or two fingers up
when you finish reading the page, the book may be just what you need to
    grow as a reader..
